Workshops

Every thread tells a story.
Join me in creating yours - through the art of contemporary bobbin lace

My workshops are immersive and personal. They are designed to share the traditional craft of bobbin lace while encouraging modern, expressive interpretation.

Each participant learns both technical precision and artistic freedom - exploring texture, light, and form.

You’ll leave not only with new skills, but also with a piece of your own story woven into lace.

Who It’s For

My workshops welcome anyone who feels inspired by the beauty of lace making.

  • Beginners curious about bobbin lace and interested in building strong foundations

  • Intermediate lace makers who want to experiment with design, textures, or scale

  • Advanced practitioners wishing to push their own statement piece, their own conceptual designs

Each session is adapted to your pace, experience and creative goals, so everyone leaves with new skills, inspiration, plus the confidence to continue their lace journey.

Choose your journey

Each workshop can be adapted to the participants’ interests and level.

Examples:

  • Introduction to bobbin lace, everything you need to know and learn at the beginning of your lace journey

  • Lace and Wire, creating bespoke jewellery pieces

  • Texture & Relief in Lace: creating depth and sculptural surfaces

  • Mixed Media Lace: combining lace with various types of threads

Where I Teach

I am based in Wales but happy to travel worldwide for workshops.

Sessions can be hosted in art schools, museums, cultural centres, or private studios.

I provide necessary basic tools (threads, wires); participants would often supply bolster pillow, stands, bobbins, and other materials as appropriate (or I can arrange beforehand).

Let’s create something beautiful together

Whether you’re planning a workshop for yourself, a small creative group, or a larger organisation,  I’d be delighted to bring the art of bobbin lace to you.

Each workshop is tailored individually, so we’ll discuss together:

  • Duration - one day, weekend, or a longer creative residency

  • Number of participants - from an intimate one-to-one to a lively group of up to 15

  • Location, travel, and accommodation - I’m based in the UK but happy to travel anywhere in the world

  • Theme or project focus - traditional techniques, modern statement lace, or experimental design

Once I receive your ideas and preferences, I’ll prepare a personalised proposal with available dates, pricing, and workshop details.
